A distributor in the industry describes their wire as 25 Karat Gold and Brushed Sterling Silver, when in reality, their wires are brass and white plastic coated. A distributor in the industry claims their self-dispensing cardboard box for braided wire is patented, when in fact, it is not. We follow United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) standards for advertising patented products, and we have been selling our braided wire in this very same box for over ten years.

In the past, I have purchased wire called Steelon®. Is this something you make or are familiar with?

Yes. Steelon® is the tradename for wire that was once sold into the framing industry by another manufacturer. This tradename has long been discontinued in the framing market, but some distributor catalogs have not been updated and still list this old product name. We manufacture wire salled SURFLON® which replaced Steelon®. SURFLON® is available in the same sizes and picture weights, plus we expanded the product range to include Starter Kits and Black & Bronze finishes.

Should I use crimping sleeves with SoftStrand® and Super-SoftStrand®.

No. We do NOT recommend using crimping sleeves with SoftStrand® & Super-SoftStrand®. Sleeves should only be used with Surflon® wire. The sleeve sizes were developed to fit only Surflon® wire. SoftStrand® & Super-SoftStrand® wires are engineered to be Wrapped or Twisted, NOT crimped.
